Big Brothers Big Sisters of Northeast Indiana
Big Brothers Big Sisters Serving Northeast Indiana and Southcentral Michigan
We're growing because our children demand it.
Big Brothers Big Sisters agencies have been working to make this region a better place since 1972. Kids in our program stay out of gangs. They do better in school. They grow up to be contributing members of our community.
Our vision is to provide a caring adult mentor to every child in need across 13 counties in Indiana and Michigan.
Big Brothers Big Sisters of Northeast Indiana grew in 2006, taking on Steuben and Lagrange Counties in Indiana and Branch and St Joe counties in Michigan. In 2007 Hillsdale County in Michigan was added to the list.
We are a 501c(3) not-for-profit agency serving Adams, Allen, DeKalb, Huntington, Kosciusko, LaGrange, Noble, Wells and Whitley Counties in Indiana and Branch, Hillsdale and St. Joseph counties in Michigan.
Our headquarters are in Fort Wayne, Indiana. We have hundreds of "matches" between caring, responsible adults and at-risk children throughout the 13 counties, and more than 80 program sites where we partner with local schools. This year we look to serve 2,000 area children.
We're growing to serve more kids.
Our intention is to grow to serve 2000 children a year by 2010. It's not ambition that makes us want to do this - there are 20,000 kids aged 7 - 17 that would benefit from a mentoring relationship.
We currently have over 400 kids waiting for a Big Brother or Big Sister.
Kids who have the potential for greatness, but no one to believe in them; kids who need someone to look up to because their neighborhoods are tearing them down; kids who just need a friend they can trust.
Kids who are one friend away from turning their lives around. Our future demands that we grow to serve this need.
Our Mission
"To help children reach their potential through professionally supported, one-to-one relationships with measurable impact."
Our Vision
To provide a caring, responsible adult mentor to every child in our service territory who wants one.
