Why?

Big Brothers and Big Sisters are adults who say “yes, you can!” to a child. They are the grown-ups we’ve all known during our childhood who took the time to listen, taught us how to skate, cheered us on to score the winning goal or consoled us when we needed them. Big Brothers Big Sisters provides responsible friendships to children and allows them the opportunity to experience new activities.

National studies prove that Big Brothers Big Sisters can make a tremendous, positive impact on children. Relative to their peers without Big Brothers or Big Sisters, Little Brothers and Sisters are:

*      46% less likely to begin using illegal drugs;

*      27% less likely to begin using alcohol;

*      52% less likely to skip school;

*      37% less likely to skip class;

*      More confident in their schoolwork performance;

*      Able to get along better with their families.
