CLIENT ELIGIBILITY GUIDELINES

 1.      The Little prospect needs to be within the age range of 7-15 at the time of intake: however, Big Brothers Big Sisters do serve children until the age of 18.

2.      The Little prospect needs to live in the Big Brothers Big Sisters Northeast Indiana Service area which includes:  Adams, Allen, Dekalb, Huntington, Kosciusko, Noble, Wells and Whitley Counties.

3.      The Little prospect is from a single-parent household, although consideration will be given to a youth in a two-parent household.

4.      The Little prospect has the capacity and willingness to maintain a relationship with a volunteer and will be able to fulfill the program time requirements.

5.      All parties (Little prospect, parent and agency) agree that the services are needed and desired.

6.      Case Manager, with the input from the parent/guardian, will determine whether Little prospect’s needs can be served by our program.  If it is found that the Little prospect’s needs go beyond the scope of the Big Brothers Big Sisters program, the Case Manager will attempt to find alternative services for the Little prospect that can better suit his/her needs.

7.      If the absent parent is a legal custodian, written permission must be received from that parent before approval or matching occur.

NOTE:  Exception to any one of the Youth Eligibility Guidelines requirements can be made with the approval of the Executive Director and Director of Operations of Big Brothers Big Sisters.
